Okay, shameless promotion here... but, this is a rare CD release in which I play drums, so when I say rare I mean this is a very "rare" occurence that my drumming has been recorded with any one band or musical group. So, please give it a listen...
The CD is: Flamenco Nova: Rumba in Blue
I think I've been pretty serious about it since the Summer of last year. And I wondered why I never really had gotten into it sooner in my life. I guess I never thought I had a "green thumb", but I do love to do gardening now. And it's a good mild form of exercise. I mean, it can be quite labor intensive.
The thing I've learned is that anyone can develop a "green thumb" for gardening. One of the secrets is developing your own compost and throw all your kitchen scraps and cut grass into it and watch it turn into dark, rich compost for mulching and adding to the soil to enrich it.
I still have a long way to go, but my goal this year is to complete a meditation garden. With a variety of flowering plants... roses, lilies, gladiolas, etc...
So far it's looking like this: The Garden: After The Rains
As you can see it's starting to shape up, but I need to plant more bulbs and things to create more flowers for Spring and Summer. And right now things are looking pretty "dormant" still. But Spring is around the corner and I'm looking forward to it, more than any previous year because now... I'm a Gardener. My wife's Gardener. *hehe* :o)
I coulda swore there were a lot of RBJers here?
Anyway, join the RBJ group if you feel inclined....
i like "vox" i really do....
for some reason i just keeping forgetting to go here and post. and being that i must have some half-a-dozen other blogs and journals out there, it's just hard to keep them all up-to-date.
i'll try to post here more often. but right now, i'm frantically getting things ready for my parents' 50th wedding anniversary!
it's going to be great fun, but i can't wait til it's over, because of the additional stress and all....
peace & love,

Recently, I've been getting a lot of joking comments about me being an "old man", of being over-the-hill...
I guess it comes with being a person who's approaching 50. But I must say it sort of hurts a bit to be considered an "old man". Though, in reality, I would love to be a retired old man and not have to work. That's for sure.
Anyway, they say that 50 is the new 30. And, I do feel that our generation is more inclined to eat healthier, exercise more, and lay off the cigarettes and drinking.
And to be honest, I'm beginning to feel my age. But I just need to counteract that with exercise and staying active.
What's good about being a drummer, is that it makes me feel like I'm a 20 year old. Music performance, in general, is a good means to stay young... mentally and physically, but mainly, feeling "young-at-heart". Very important.
Because if you start to believe what people think about what you should be at a certain age, then you're going to sort of look the part, if you know what I mean.
But, I basically feel very young for my age, and I don't really look too old for my age too.
However, aging is an inevitable part of life...
I must say though, my wife and I were watching this special tribute to the late, great Ella Fitzgerald, and they had Nancy Wilson singing one of Ella's famous songs, "Someone To Watch Over Me", and Nancy Wilson is "up there" in her years definitely... but my wife and I were commenting on how great she looked for her age!
That's how I want to be when I become a senior citizen.
But for now, I'm feelling pretty young for my age, and to all those people calling me "old man" out there, I say, "Phooey!" ;-)
Everyone should remain young-at-heart, and just keep focused on feeling young at any age.
So, I love this whole VOX thing, and the interface and the way the place is structured is very cool!
It's just that I already have my own domain name and all, using wordpress. I actually have 6-8 blogs around the web nowadays! So it's tough to keep up with all of them with any fair amount of consistency.
Anyways, I'll be exploring around here more often in the next few days.
Hello everyone!
Thanks to Shy for recommending VOX. This is a very cool place to be.
