Recently, I've been getting a lot of joking comments about me being an "old man", of being over-the-hill...
I guess it comes with being a person who's approaching 50. But I must say it sort of hurts a bit to be considered an "old man". Though, in reality, I would love to be a retired old man and not have to work. That's for sure.
Anyway, they say that 50 is the new 30. And, I do feel that our generation is more inclined to eat healthier, exercise more, and lay off the cigarettes and drinking.
And to be honest, I'm beginning to feel my age. But I just need to counteract that with exercise and staying active.
What's good about being a drummer, is that it makes me feel like I'm a 20 year old. Music performance, in general, is a good means to stay young... mentally and physically, but mainly, feeling "young-at-heart". Very important.
Because if you start to believe what people think about what you should be at a certain age, then you're going to sort of look the part, if you know what I mean.
But, I basically feel very young for my age, and I don't really look too old for my age too.
However, aging is an inevitable part of life...
I must say though, my wife and I were watching this special tribute to the late, great Ella Fitzgerald, and they had Nancy Wilson singing one of Ella's famous songs, "Someone To Watch Over Me", and Nancy Wilson is "up there" in her years definitely... but my wife and I were commenting on how great she looked for her age!
That's how I want to be when I become a senior citizen.
But for now, I'm feelling pretty young for my age, and to all those people calling me "old man" out there, I say, "Phooey!" ;-)
Everyone should remain young-at-heart, and just keep focused on feeling young at any age.
So, I love this whole VOX thing, and the interface and the way the place is structured is very cool!
It's just that I already have my own domain name and all, using wordpress. I actually have 6-8 blogs around the web nowadays! So it's tough to keep up with all of them with any fair amount of consistency.
Anyways, I'll be exploring around here more often in the next few days.
